The way of Qigong: A form of Chinese Energy Medicine. Qi, the vital breath of life energy,
Gong, learning to guide and work the Qi flow throughout the body revitalising areas of depletion
and congestion. A practice in the skill of energy guidance begins to develop in a slow and
meditative way of presence to self. “Less is More” as we let go of striving for performance or
outcome...rigidities of body and mind come to our attention with ease as we steep ourselves in
the heart of practice.
We practice in an atmosphere of quiet attention for the first hour. Using sitting, standing and
moving postures in deep relaxation the emergence of an inner rhythm begins to flow through
gesture and movement, accompanied by mindful intention. We learn to harmonise, detoxify and
energise different systems such as bone marrow cleansing and organ purification whilst
remaining present in the heart of practice, without hope of reaching a fruitful outcome.
There follows a lively and welcoming break, very much part of the group gathering, which sits in
the heart and soul of the practice. The second hour is more dynamic and active using chant and
music.
The group has been together since the foundation of the Foxrock Pastoral Centre and it is a
privilege to continue working in such a life giving community..
Course Director: Rosaleen Doyle practiced as a Psychotherapist in Eckhart House, Institute of
Psychosynthesis. Her interest in merging a somatic practice within therapy arose in group work
whilst working with seriously ill people to help restore a sense of trust in their body, mind and
spirit and they became her greatest teachers.
